Higher participation and sharper assessment in every maths lesson, without buying a single device.
OnBoard Maths gives your maths department whole-class retrieval practice, live checks for understanding and targeted follow-up work, all from the board in every classroom. One licence covers every teacher for £100 a year.
What it does for your department
Six things heads of department and senior leaders tell us they need from every maths lesson, and how OnBoard Maths provides them.
Every pupil participating
Pupils respond on mini whiteboards or with A, B, C, D cards, so teachers see every answer, not just the confident few. The built-in name picker supports no-hands-up questioning.
Assessment for learning, built in
Misconception-based options and a one-tap class check after every question show where understanding breaks down, in the moment.
Responsive teaching, not just reporting
Teachers replay the questions a class found hard straight away, and generate a targeted follow-up worksheet for DIRT, homework or intervention.
Adaptive teaching and inclusion
Support, Warm-up, Core and Stretch levels, different levels for each side of the board, and visual scaffolds such as bar models make it work for every set.
Lower workload
No planning, no question writing and no marking. Questions are generated fresh every time, and worksheets come with answers on a separate page.
Consistency across the department
Every teacher uses the same routines, levels and topics, which makes shared starters, common assessments and intervention easier to coordinate.
Better value than another round of devices
Schools often reach for tablets or laptops to get every pupil responding. OnBoard Maths gets the same participation from the board and mini whiteboards you already have.
£100 per school per year
Under £2 a week for every maths teacher
£0 hardware no devices, cases or chargers
£0 per pupil no per-head fees
No hidden costs
No set-up fee, no training days to book, no software to install and no devices for your IT team to manage. It runs in the browser on your existing boards.
No learning time lost
There is nothing for pupils to log in to and no passwords to reset. Teachers open a game and the class is working within a minute.
Supports your phone-free policy
Phone-free classrooms shouldn’t mean less engaging lessons. OnBoard Maths keeps the energy of games while the teacher stays in charge.
- It’s now the expectation in England. Statutory guidance says schools should be mobile phone-free by default, and Ofsted looks at how well phone policies work in practice.
- Distraction matters. OECD research found that pupils distracted by other pupils’ devices in maths lessons scored noticeably lower.
- Teacher-led technology works better. The same research found that technology used by the teacher tends to be more effective than pupils using their own devices. One board, one teacher, the whole class is exactly how OnBoard Maths works.
To be clear, research on phone bans and exam results is mixed. Our claim is simpler: fewer distractions and more of the class taking part, without a single pupil device.

Data protection and safeguarding, made simple
Because pupils never sign in, there is very little for your data protection officer to check.
No pupil data at all
No pupil names, accounts, results or devices. We hold only your school’s name, its login and a contact email.
Teachers’ files stay on their computer
Class lists typed into the name picker, settings and any PDF slides opened on the Board never leave the teacher’s computer and are never stored on our servers.
One school login
Every teacher uses the same school login, which you can change at any time. Worksheets carry your school’s name automatically.
Ready for your checks
Our data protection statement and supplier information answer the usual questions in two pages.

Questions from school leaders
How does this fit with our existing schemes of work?
OnBoard Maths is topic-based rather than tied to one scheme, so it slots into whichever scheme of work you follow, for starters, checks for understanding and review.
Do we need to train staff?
No formal training is needed. Each game takes a teacher about a minute to set up, and the choices are explained on screen. A short demonstration in a department meeting is usually enough.
How is it different from online homework platforms?
Homework platforms track individual pupils on their own devices, after the lesson. OnBoard Maths works during the lesson, with the whole class, on one board. Many schools use both.
What evidence is it based on?
It turns well-established practice into quick classroom routines: retrieval practice, checking for understanding with every pupil, diagnostic questions and responsive teaching. Our teaching and learning page explains how.
What happens when a licence ends?
Teachers see a reminder for the final two weeks. On the end date, licensed features such as worksheets stop, and the free games keep working.
